Abstract

This course offers a general introduction into the field of Entrepreneurship and the practices of professional Business Management. On the basis of a coherent business / management model all essential aspects of successful ventures are discussed in a stepwise and logical order. Special emphasis is placed on the interaction and interplay of all aspects and factors influencing a company result.

Objective

This basic course shall convey a general overview of the nature and functionality of companies in a competitive environment and shall encourage the students to further delve into various aspects of the topics discussed. By showing how key aspects of business can be comprehended in an overall concept of Entrepreneurship, the aim of the course is to create an understanding of factors driving company success, where success is understood as a broad construct including financial return, employee-, customer- and supplier satisfaction as well as social and ecological responsibility. After this course the student shall be qualified to perceive its own function in a running company, to identify the demands on an entrepreneur and to recognize the required aspects and attitudes towards leading a business of any size. Especially with attendance of additional courses covering similar business topics, the long term learning goal of this lecture series is to enable and fortify the student to discover innovative market potential and to implement own ideas in an already running business or into a new startup company.

Content
