Cell biology of plants and animals
Zellbiologie der Tiere und Pflanzen
Last Updated: 2026-02-05 15:28:34
Abstract
Basic knowledge of general and specific features and function of cells in animal and plant. Focus in the animal system are the following: cytoskeleton, muscle cells, immune system, the control of the cell cycle, and tumor development. In the plant system the focus will be on compartmentalization, cell wall, vacuole and plastid and their biogenesis.
Objective
Part animal cell biology - Knowledge of the mechanisms that regulate the embryonal development of the organism of animals as well as human beings as well as an understanding of cell differentiation. - Comprehension of how cells maintain their shape, change their shape, transport vesicle, how cells move and how they induce strength (muscle cells) - Comprehension of basic function of blood and the immune system - Understanding of the regulation of cell division as well as cell death - Knowledge of why mutations in certain genes are responsible for the emergence of tumors Part plant cell biology - Comprehension of conformation, function and biogenesis of vacuoles in plants - Comprehension of biogenesis, function and structure of the cell wall of plants - Knowledge of the function, special characteristics as well as structure of plastids.
Content
Part animal cell biology Development of the organism of animals as well as human being; regulation of cell growth, cell proliferation and differentiation; cell communications; tissue formation; introduction into the immune system; tumor development. Part plant cell biology Conformation, function and biogenesis of vacuoles in plants; discovery , chemistry and structure of the cell wall of plants, compartmentalization, differentiation and biogenesis of plastids.
