Abstract

This lecture series imparts fundamental exoertise in urban planning. The main focus is to illustrate the complex manner in which various themes are embedded in the everyday practice of planning and design.In addition to presenting the main concepts of the profession and related disciplines, various techniques and benchmarks are elaborated.

This lecture series imparts fundamental exoertise in urban planning. The main focus is to illustrate the complex manner in which various themes are embedded in the everyday practice of planning and design. In addition to presenting the main concepts of the profession and related disciplines, various techniques and benchmarks are elaborated. The goal is to communicate a broad-based sysremic knowledge base, which helps enable students to evaluate simple urban planning problems. Another aim relates to the observation of current urban phenomena, the exemplary use of design tools and methods, as well as the explanation of sustainable strategies for planning pratice, which creatively integrate new social trends in dynamic planning and steering processes and urban projects. Urban Planning I, during the Winter Semester, offers a general overview of current dialogue and issues, while during the Summer Semester, Urban Planning II focuses in-depth on several important themes in the field.
