Abstract
Topics covered: Elementary Algebra (notion of variable, term, equation, Algebra literacy, CAS and school Algebra), functions, calculus. Teaching goals. Results from Educational Research. Historical Aspects, if relevant for teaching. Different approaches to key topics. Gender issues. Culture of testing.
Objective
To prepare future teachers to teach mathematics at Gymnasium and related institutions.
Content
Es geht um die Frage, wie der Algebra- und der Analysisunterricht an der Mittelschule gestaltet werden kann. Die Vorlesung bietet einen Überblick über den zu behandelnden Unterrichtsstoff, wobei auch auf die historische Entwicklung von zentralen Begriffen eingegangen wird. Es geht um das schwierige Verhältnis von Formalem und Inhaltlichem, um Exaktheit und Kommunikation. Exemplarisch wird gezeigt, wie Gegenstände, die vielen Schülerinnen und Schülern erfahrungsgemäss Schwierigkeiten bereiten (zum Teil gibt es dazu empirische Untersuchungen), vermittelt werden können, wobei unterschiedliche Zugänge skizziert und verglichen werden; der Zusammenhang zu den Unterrichtsmethoden und Techniken der allgemeinen Didaktik wird vertieft. Das Motivationsproblem und die Perspektive des Mathematikunterrichts werden diskutiert. Es wird ein Überblick über die einschlägige Schulbuchliteratur angeboten.
