Abstract
To deepen and apply the basic knowledge imparted in Soil Science during previous studies (Bachelor degree) through independent studies of selected questions and with case studies incl. selected publications.
Objective
To deepen and apply the basic knowledge imparted in Soil Science during previous studies (Bachelor degree). Gain a deeper understanding through independent studies of selected questions on ecology of forest sites. A essential part of the course is the work with case studies (field problem cases) and selected readings / publications.

Forest soils in switzerland: general view, acidity, heavy metals, nutrient balance, forest maintenance and soil properties /-prozesses Physical soil conservation in forest: DPSIR approch (driver-pressure-state-impact-response), regeneration after compaction Impact of windthrow on soil dynamic (Vivian, Lothar): soil- and humus dynamics Substainability, protective forest maintenance and soil: forest locations (-sites) Forest ecosystem and water relations Roots of forest trees: distribution, growth and soil properties Long-term forest ecosystem research: atm. pollution, soil solution and -matrix Monitoring of forest soils: alpine ecosystems and climate change
