Mathematical tools of an engineer
Objective
Mathematics as a tool to solve engineering problems, mathematical formulation of problems in science and engineering. Basic mathematical knowledge of an engineer
Content
Calculus for functions of several variables: gradient, directional derivative, chain rule, Taylor expansion. Multiple integrals: transformation of coordinates, path integrals, integrals over surfaces, divegence theorem, applications in physics. Examples of partial differential equations: vibrating membrane, stationary temperature, diffusion problems, one dimensional waves
