Abstract

Metabolic diversity of prokaryotes; control of gene expression, regulation of gene expression as response to external and internal signals, the development of an organisme as the product of regulated gene expression, the physiology of the organism (plant physiology).

Objective

The understanding of basic concepts in biology: metabolic diversity of prokaryotes; control of gene expression, regulation of gene expression as response to external and internal signals, the development of an organisme as the product of regulated gene expression, the physiology of the organism (plant physiology).

Content

From gene to protein, molecular genetics, microbial models (prokaryotes, viruses), metabolic diversity of prokaryotes (C-, N- and energy metabolism), the eukaryotic genome, regulation of gene expression, the genetic basis of development, fungi. Plant physiology: structure and growth, photosynthesis, nutrition and transport processes, reproduction and development, response to internal and external signals.
