Abstract
The course provides an overview on animal breeding and genetics in the tropics with focus on livestock production in low-input farming systems. Topics covered include elements of different types of breeding programmes and the management and conservation of animal genetic resources.
Objective
Lectures and independent exercises allow students to gain a general understanding of animal genetics and breeding in the tropics.
