Close-Range Photogrammetry

VVZ CR n/a

Last Updated: 2026-02-05 15:29:22

Abstract

We treat sensors, data acquisition and processing techniques of close-range photogrammetry. This includes image-based and range-based techniques. Focus is on sensor analysis, calibration and validation and on the components of the data processing chain, all applied to the generation of 3D textured surface and scene models. A small project will accompany us throughout the semester.

Objective

The goal is the understanding of the data acquisition and processing techniques for 3D modeling of objects and processes with terrestrial platforms. Both image- and range-base approaches are considered. The student should be able to evaluate, calibrate, validate and apply the respective sensors. He/she should get a deep understanding of project set-up conditions and manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic data processing techniques. Emphasis is here on the processing pipeline of 3D surface modeling for the generation of reality-based hybrid object and scene models. The students should therefore also be able to understand and handle issues of texture mapping and 3D visualization.
