Abstract

Video is used as an instrument to educate the subjective perception. The analysis of visual conventions are the basis for a precise visualization of landscape architectural design. The produced videos reflect these conventions and their influence on design work.

Objective

Content

During this course we will be testing the possibilities of video in representing contemporary perceptions, images and projections of urban and rural spaces. We will be particularly interested in involving spatial/temporal, aesthetic and social contexts in the process of making a video of the site. 'Glatt Stories' The given territory is the area along the river Glatt between Greifensee and Airport Zurich. We see the spaces along the Glatt as a test field of suburban landscape to be investigated in a bigger frame of reference, as it reacts to its human adoption and the changes of the times. On this site we will conduct 4 weekly exercises looking at perception of the space and landscape and achieve tools to represent them. 2 additional inputs including the basics of editing will lead to the topics for the elective course's final video, a small video essay about the site which will be elaborated during the summer break.
