Abstract

This course is intendent for students of the University and the ETH Zurich who already possess the level B2 of the European Council. It is exremely important to comply with this requirement to obtain a harmonious development in class. The student can understand and hold complex conversations, understand news on TV, as well as read and write texts about contemporary issues.

Objective

Debating is one of the most important supports for argumentative development and defense of our ideas. However, sometimes it can represent a complex challenge due to lack of 'instruments' or opportunities. This course aims to provide the student with some of those tools, which will allow him to feel comfortable in the use of this important skill. We will develop activities aiming to the acquisition of oral reflexes.

Content

Course structure: - Introduction: argumentative resources. Error detection and correction. - Core: Training based on students' presentations about subjects proposed by the teacher. - Final: recording of short video sequences, followed by a plenum debriefing. Subjects: some of them are fair trade, physical appearance, for example. We would like to consider the Spanish-speaking side of these subjects. We will put emphasis on the themed vocabulary, which the students shall practice for an easier development of conversations.
