Background in algebraic geometry. Basic properties of algebraic groups and actions. Jordan decomposition. Chevalley linearization theorem. Classifications: one dimensional algebraic groups, commutative algebraic groups. Diagonalizable groups, tori, rigidity. Toric varieties. Homogeneous spaces and factor-groups. Parabolic subgroups. Radical. Reductive groups.
