Content
The course builds upon the Bachelor course 701-0553-00 and deepens the understanding of Landscape Ecology. It emphasizes the detection and analysis of landscape patterns and change, as well as simulation of land-use change with advanced modeling tools. The following themes are presented: simple classification of land-use patterns; landscape typologies using European datasets; landscape functions, i.e. goods and services of landscapes; new methods of ecological remote sensing, including multispectral analyses; landscape classification using fuzzy classification; cellular automata & continuous classification; detection and modeling of landscape change; scenario-based modeling. Many practical examples and short labs are offered during the course.
