Objective

Soil Mechanics: Understand the principles of strength- and deformation-behaviour of different soils. Understand and apply the fundamentals of soil mechanics and basic geotechnical computation methods Geotechnical Engineering in Soils: Understand and evaluate important geotechnical scenarios Understand and recommend standard construction methods in soils Understand the interactions soil/building Tunneling in Soils: Understand the requirements for the geological prognosis Understanding of the fundamental relationships between soils, excavation methods and support methods (including their advantages and disadvantages).

Content

Understanding the principles of soil behaviour and the fundamentals of geotechnical practices in soils Ability to communicate with geotechnical engineers The course is based on more descriptive courses on Engineering Geology within the BSc Geol. Program. This course is a compulsory prerequisite for other courses within the MSc Eng. Geol. program
