Abstract

Insights into fruit production (pre- and post-harvest), berry production, viticulture (incl. some hints on wine making) and vegetable production in Switzerland.

Objective

Students have some insights into fruit production, berry production, viticulture and vegetable production in Switzerland and in some interesting scientific challenges in relation to these crops.

Content

Insights into fruit-growing (pre- and post-harvest), small fruit-growing, viticulture (with some hints on wine making) and vegetable-growing (pre-harvest) in Switzerland: - Berries: Oberview on macro-economical importance (acrage, farms, ...) of the crops mentioned - Other crops: Selection of scientifc and practical hints on the basis of production technique, crop protection, physiology, genetic variability, etc. Exemplary cases of relevant aspects of cultivar selection, production technique, physiology and ecology and crop protection, particularly considering scientific basis and its implementation.
