Abstract

Measurement is a fundamental skill in most fields of scientific work and technological development. We deal with the subject of measurement and instrumentation on a fundamental basis, leading from the basic concepts and principles of measurement science through to system theory, theory of errors, discretisation, quantisation, sensor principles and model based measurement.

Objective

Master the basics and system structures of metrology. Ability to apply the methods of signal conditioning, as well as selected measuring methods and sensors.

Content

Basics of metrology as signal theory, system theory, theory of errors, discretisation, quantisation, sensor principles, ideal and real measurement process, model based measurement. Measuring methods and sensors for electrical, mechanical, fluid dynamical, thermodynamical and substantial quantities.
