Last Updated: 2026-02-05 15:14:09

Abstract

Design exercises - introduction of conceptual, theoretical, and operative design instruments and models, explored through sets of progressively more complex design problems.

Content

Students are given an introduction which takes them through clearly defined working steps in Architectural Design. They become familiar with typical architectural problems and their solutions and are introduced to a typology of such problems. Presentation techniques and how an architect works with these are taught. Conceptual, theoretical, and operative design instruments and models are explored through sets of progressively more complex design exercises. Primary architectural principles based on the factors of function, construction, and space constraints are illustrated within their individual historical contexts.
