Abstract
With the basic terms: characteristic, programme, typology, shell, volume and structure, the shape defining factors of architectural design are discussed. The lecture wants to communicate an integrated understanding of architecture. The different examples are presented within a setting of a specific social theme and their correlation between architecture and other disciplines are researched.
Content
Third Semester: With reference to six basic ideas - characteristic, program, typology, skin, volume and structure - the form-defining factors of architectural design are discussed. This lecture course is intended to communicate an integrated understanding of architecture. For this reason, different examples of architecture are presented within a setting of a specific social theme. The correlation between architecture and other scholarly, cultural, and artistic disciplines in particular are researched. Fourth Semester: The architectural project is discussed in terms of its intrinsic workings and its social implications, based on the categories of program, context, technique and form. The primary goal is to show how different constellations and interactions of these four criteria influence design and, at the same time, define precise architectural positions. Examples of 20th-Century architecture serve to illustrate the theoretical discourse.
