Abstract
The main vegetation types (biomes) of the world are presented with their structure, functioning, and dependence on abiotic and biotic factors as well as human impacts. Important topics are the effects of climate and soil conditions, fire, succession, herbivory, human use, biodiversity, patterns of species distribution, convergence, radiation, invasion and exctinction, endemism.
Objective
Knowledge of all zonobiomes (plant formations, see below), oro- and the most important pedobiomes in the world. Understanding of the possibilities for their use and their conservation.
Content
In einem einführenden Teil wird eine Übersicht in die Gliederung der Vegetation der Erde und deren Entstehung gegeben. In je 1-2 Vorlesungen werden die charakteristischen Vegetationstypen verschiedener Gebiete der Welt behandelt: Tropischer Regenwald, Savannen, Lorbeerwald, mediterrane Ökosysteme, Wälder und Feuchtgebiete der gemässigten und borealen Zone, Inseln. Zu jedem Vegetationstyp werden einige der folgenden Themen diskutiert:Einfluss des Klimas auf die Vegetation, Umweltgradienten, Grenzlagen, Feuer, Sukzession, Biodiversität, Verbreitungsmuster, Konvergenz, Radiation, Invasion und Extinktion, Endemismus u.a.
