Abstract
Concepts, theories and empirical findings for self directed learning are presented and examples from school practice are discussed regarding educational methods, teachers' roles and contexts in schools.
Objective
Get familiar with various aspects of self directed learning. Analyse concepts of self directed learning. Discuss theoretical and practical questions in self directed learning phases. Analyse examples and experiences from school practice. Discuss perspectives, theoretical challenges and structural conditions of self directed learning.
Content
Self directed learning as an important principle and goal of secondary II level and as an element of quality and curriculum development. Theoretical concepts for self directed learning. Teachers' roles. Achievement motivation in self directed learning processes. Case studies of self directed learning processes. Experience from school practice. Participatory research as an Instrument of curriculum development
