Abstract
Future food markets will be global. This leads to a complementarity between the agri-food systems all over the world. Each agri-food system induces an adaptation process in order to keep its competitiveness. The main purpose of the lecture is to understand and to explain this adaptation process and the local implications and the role of agriculture in different regions of the world.
Objective
The goals of the lecture are: 1. to understand the implications of the interactions between agri-food systems with different degrees of performance on the markets 2. to understand the situation of agri-food systems and the role of agriculture in developing countries in comparison with strong growing economies and types of economies like Europe and North America 3. to understand the role, the strategies and the impact of multinational firms within the agri-food system

Content: 1. theoretical framework in economics and concepts related to the purpose of the lecture 2. analysis of the agri-food system of selected countries in different contexts 3. analysis of the actual European studies concerning scenarios for the future 4. case study of a the multinational Firm Nestlé and the activities all over the world with its implications on the local situation
