Abstract
A main aim of this seminar is the mediation of competence in analyzing and interpretation in the following fields: Knowledge on and of artefacts, on the dynamic of systems, historic contexts and on the history of theory- and knowledge. The seminar asks for the student’s active involvement. In addition, this elective course can also be elaborated as a major written thesis.
Objective
A main aim of this seminar is the mediation of competence in analyzing and interpretation in the following fields: Knowledge on and of artefacts, on the dynamic of systems, historic contexts and on the history of theory- and knowledge. Introduction to scientific working methods. The seminar asks for the student’s active involvement: Every student has to make one contribution (as an oral talk) and a written thesis. In addition, this elective course can also be elaborated as a major written thesis („freie Diplomwahlfacharbeit“).
Content
Das Bauen des beginnenden 20. Jahrhunderts wirft programmatisch sllen "historischen Ballast" ab und nimmt Wissensverluste im Bereich von Konstruktionstraditionen und Baustoffkenntnis vorsätzlich in Kauf. Die neue Kurzfristperspektive und die Idee vom industrialisierten Bauen (Firmen, Normen) bestimmen die Materialwntwicklung für das Bauwesen. Das Seminar thematisiert diese Prozesse und Fragen der Alterung und Konservierbarkeit dieser neuen Stoffe.
