Abstract
The lecture course is divided into two parts:The first part ‘Prestressing’ deals with the principle of prestressing and the concept of prestressed concrete. The possibilities and advantages of prestressed structures are illus-trated beginning with its inherent, distinctive ideas. This first part is concluded with construction details from case studies.

The lecture course is divided into two parts: The first part ‘Prestressing’ deals with the principle of prestressing and the concept of prestressed concrete. The possibilities and advantages of prestressed structures are illus-trated beginning with its inherent, distinctive ideas. This first part is concluded with construction details from case studies. The second part ‘Prefabrication’ begins with the main features of prefabrication, with reference to the design of prefabricated structures. All the main aspects are treated, from the structure as a whole, to the individual construction systems down to staircases and façades.
