Abstract

Impart basic theoretical concepts of the Method of Finite Elements and give perspectives for problem solving procedures.Introduce linear finite element models for truss and continuum elements and their application for structural elements including beams, shells and plates.Apply Method of Finite Elements to practical problems through accompanying exercises using common software packages.

Matrices and linear algebra – short review. Basic concepts of engineering analysis. Formulation of the Method of Finite Elements. Isoparametric finite elements. Convergence considerations. Practical application of the Method of Finite Elements.
