Abstract
Introduction of a range of concepts in sedimentology, Earth's surface processes and sedimentary geology in terms of processes and products. Familiarize students with a range of erosional, transportational and depositional processes and environments. The typical facies of the main depositional environments will be introduced.
Objective
Vermittlung der Grundlagen der Sedimentologie: Prozess - Produkt - Diagenese-Gesteinslektüre -Ueberblick über die Oberflächen-Sedimentationsprozesse. Bsp: was ist ein Murgang? Was ist ein Turbiditätsstrom? -Einführung in wichtige physikalische, chemische und biologische Aspekte der Sedimentation Bsp: was sind pelagische Sedimente? Wo wird Aragonit ausgefällt? Warum? -Einführung in die Diagenese Bsp.Wie entsteht ein Radiolarit? -Einführung in die Sedimentgesteinslektüre: physikalische, biologische und chemische Sedimentsignaturen Bsp. Was sagen uns Rippelmarken oder Bioturbation oder Kanalfüllungen über das Ablagerungsmilieu aus?
