Abstract

Level B2-C1 (global scale of the European Council). Independence in the use of the language, i.e., fluency in the communication with native speakers, and logic argumentation of written ideas.

Objective

The course aims to lead the student to 'freely' use subordinate and other structures, from the native speaker's perspective, to try to achieve spontaneity in oral communication. Importance will be given to writing, which will be exercised as self-study.

Content

The course is intended for students who have successfully completed the course "Español, Lengua y Cultura V" in the former semester or whose level is B2-C1. Goals of the course Review of grammatical structures from a conversational and cultivated point of view, with the aim of making students aware of register differences and the extra-grammatical structures typical of this level. The linguistic objectives aimed for are substantially subordinate constructions and registers. We will perform exercises of the D.E.L.E. type (Nivel superior), but this course is not meant to be a preparation for this exam. We will discuss about topics suggested by our reading (see 'Literatur'), which will impuls us into an oral and written practise.

Resources

Literature

We will use material created and/or adapted by the teacher (a small fee will be asked for photocopies). We will also read "Sin noticias de Gurg" by Eduardo Mendoza, (Seix Barral, Barcelona 1991; ISBN: 84-322-0782-9). Books will be available from the beginning of semester at the bookshop El Cóndor” Seilergraben 43, in Zurich ( www.condorlibros.com ).
