Überblick über erdgeschichtliche Abläufe im Tertiär, Anpassungen der frühesten Primaten an das Baumleben (Bewegungsapparat, Sinnesorgane, Verhalten), die Entwicklung des aufrechten Ganges (Australopithecinen), Gehirnvergrösserung bei den frühesten Menschen und deren Konsequenzen (Energiehaushalt, Ernährung), die Ausbreitung der Menschenartigen, ein kurzer Abriss über die kulturelle Entwicklung der nomadisierenden Jäger.
