Abstract

Level B2 (global scale of the Europena Council). Fluency in oral communication and clear argumentation of written ideas.

Objective

The course aims for a mastery ob subordinate sentecnes and verbal corrlation (tenses and moods). Peripheral themes will be a review of prepositions, ser and estar, passive forms, etc. It is a very important goal to achieve a complementarity between grammar and oral communication, putting emphasis on this latter aspect. We want participants to be able to pronounce judgment and valiues about facts or other's opinions, to point out aspects concerning the characteristics of things or people, to rectify information, to withhold their point of view, as well as other functions concerning the oral and written rethorics. We will discuss about popular Mexican art and Spanish museums, today's latin American families, gastronomy, slang in Spanish, etc.

Content

We will systematically train the subordinate sentences of different types, with a special emphasis on correlation of tenses and moods. A review of ser/estar as well as prepositions will be included in the program. As far as oral communication is concerned, we will take topics from our semestral reading to focus them under a personal an contemporary perspective.

Resources

Literature

We will use material created and/or adapted by the teacher, as well as audo and video documents. We will also read a novel by a contemporary Latin American author, which will be partially discussed in our OLAT forum. Details will be given at the beginning of semester. A small fee will be asked for photocopies.
