Neutron Scattering in Solid State Physics
Neutronenstreuung in der Festkörperphysik II / Neutron Scattering in Solid State Physics II
Last Updated: 2026-02-05 15:19:04
Abstract
The lecture, based on the basic tools seen during the winter-semester, concentrates on a few particular examples: phase transitions, selected structure problems, magnetism, dynamical neutron scattering. A few examples from the most recent literature are as well discussed.
Objective
Comprehension, based on the lectures of the winter semester, of the following particular examples: phase transitions (critical neutron scattering), selected structure problems (defects, macromolecules, superconductors, charge density distributions...), magnetism (crystal field excitations, spin waves...), dynamical neutron scattering (neutron optics). A few examples from the most recent literature will as well be discussed.
Content
8. Magnetic excitations 9. Structures 10. Phase transitions 11. Neutron optic 12. Relation between spin susceptibility and electronic structure in HTSC 13. Neutronscattering from mono-atomic gases 14. Helium-3, Helium-4 15. Dynamics of Hydrogen
