Abstract
This lecture of two semesters provides an introduction to the basic economic concepts of insurance. The learning goal is understanding of the basic economic concepts of insurance.

The content of part I is: - The insurance product (basic concepts; the basic actuarial model; characteristics of the various insurance forms and lines) - The insurance market (history; legal basic conditions; the three-pillar-system of Switzerland) - The insurance company (risk transfer; risk transformation and pooling; characteristics of the saving component; price politics)
