Objective
Spatial planning tasks can be described as clearing and solving of decision problems: who should do what until when? The problems are solved in sequences of decisions and actions. In most cases, there is a long time lag between decisions and their outcomes. The thing that makes dealing with uncertainty and risk essential. This course introduces some of the basic methods that are needed to identify spatial problems, to focus on the main tasks and to achieve the decisions and actions that are needed to solve the given problem.
Content
The main themes of the course are strategies in spatial planning, decision making and quantitative methods: - Overview and assessment of situations - Strategies in spatial planning - Handling spatial conflicts - Formulating spatial problems - Decision making methods - Sustainable use of resources - Simulation and quantitative methods - Process organisation In addition to the course an exercise (103-0417-01 U) is recommended.
