Abstract

The interdisciplinary oline course "Plant Responses to Stress" (PRESS) allows students to become familiar with the basics of research in plant sciences , from the molecular to the ecosystem level.

Objective

The course aims to provide an understanding of the complex responses of plants to stress situations from the molecular to the ecosystem level. It has been developed by a team of experts with backgrounds as diverse as biochemistry, biotechnology, genetics, ecology, agronomy, physiology, phytomedicine and systematics, and it aspires to integrate these disciplines.

Content

This interdisciplinary online course, organized by scientists of the Zurich-Basel Plant Science Center, provides an overview over plant responses to stress. It consists of nine lessons for self-study and contains several interactive elements that enable students to design field experiments virtually and to use them to address various research problems.
