Systems Neuroscience
Last Updated: 2026-02-05 15:05:43
Abstract
This course complements the course “Neural computation”. It focuses on the computations performed by neural populations to achieve specific motor and cognitive tasks.
Objective
The goals of the course are to 1) understand how complex computations are performed by neural populations 2) understand the computations necessary to achieve a variety of sensory, motor, or cognitive tasks 3) study how neural signals are transformed within an array of neuronal structures.
Content
The course studies the neuronal structures underlying sensory perception (such as vision), motor control (for example grasping), and a variety of cognitive tasks (such as leaning and memory). In addition to a structural description of the neuronal populations involved, we focus on the computations and signal transformations operated across these neuronal populations.
Resources
Literature
Numerous scientific articles and book chapters are used.
