Abstract
Introduction to the history and theory of gardens and landscape. Examples of historical and current landscape architecture are used to analyse the conditions involved in designing our environment.
Objective
The course covers basic history and theory of gardens and landscape from the beginnings to the present. Examples of historical and current garden and landscape architecture are used to analyse and question the conditions involved in designing our environment.
Content
The lecture series on “History and Theory of Garden Design and Landscape Architecture” deals with the history of the development of designed nature from the beginnings of cultural landscapes and gardens to contemporary landscape architecture. In the analysis of each era, the focus is on the spatial and cultural relationship between the garden, the city and the landscape, as well as on the changing perceptions of nature and its representation.
