Abstract

Fundamentals and applications of cryptography, with emphasis onsecurity definitions and security proofs. Topics include one-wayfunctions, pseudo-random generators, hash functions, symmetricencryption and authentication systems, public-key encryption systems, digital signature schemes, some cryptographic protocols, and somecryptanalytic techniques.

Objective

Content

Fundamentals and applications of cryptography. Topics include one-way functions, pseudo-random generators, hash functions, symmetric encryption and authentication systems, public-key encryption systems, digital signature schemes, some cryptographic protocols, and some cryptanalytic techniques. Emphasis on security definitions and security proofs. Some applications and case studies, for example digital payment systems. Familiarity with the basic cryptographic concepts as treated for example in the course "Information Security" is helpful but not a condition.
