Abstract
Design in the process of product innovation, functionality and appearance, demographic and psychographic requirements, aesthetic points of view and principles, conventional and computer generated visualization, modelling aspects, rapid prototyping and VR methods, usability and acceptance analysis.
Objective
The interdependence of function and form of a technical product in principle needs the early inclusion of designspecific aspects during the product development. Due to economical aspects developing engineers and designer have to achieve the product quality required from the market with coordinated measures. This requested especially to the similar views as well as the procedures on schedule. For this reasons the objective of this lecture is to give a better understanding of the basis and rules of technical design.
Content
To impart consolidated knowledge about Product design, the folllowing topics help to understand its basics and rules and their applications during the design process: - the impact of product design on the development process; - dependence between functions, technology and shape of technical objects; - requirements with focus on demographical and psychographical nature; - principles and rules of product design; - conventional and computer aided methods to represent design solutions (Mock-Ups, Rapid Prototyping, Virtual Reality); - profiles of significance and related methods to make technical products visible and discernible as well as to increase their acceptance; - evaluation methods, especially for linguistic expressed and therefore fuzzy criterion, which are typical for requirements from product design.
