Discovering Entrepreneurship

Abstract

The course offers an introduction to the practices of professional entrepreneurship. The students become acquainted with the requirements faced by entrepreneurial personalities and teams. Further, the impact of innovation processes on all activities of value creation is conveyed. The importance of quality and sustainability as cornerstones for entrepreneurial management is also covered in-depth.

Objective

The course offers an introduction to the practices of professional management and addresses the essence and functionality of enterprises in competitive environments. The students become acquainted with the requirements faced by entrepreneurial personalities and teams. Further, the impact of innovation processes on all activities of value creation is conveyed. In addition, the impacts and limits of technological deployment are thoroughly treated. The importance of quality and sustainability as cornerstones for entrepreneurial management is also covered in-depth.

Content

Ten professors of D-MTEC are actively involved in the course and treat the following topics: Management; Corporate Strategy; Customer, Market and Marketing Management; Technology and Innovation Management; Internal and external Venturing; Operations and Supply Chain Management; Deployment of Information Technology; Human Resource Management; Enterprises and Money; Sustainability; Corporate Culture and Ethics; Enterprises and Economics. To apply the knowledge conveyed in the lectures, various assignments are conducted. Two assignments out of six have to be handed in. A business game where the students interactively learn the basic mechanisms and principles of management is conducted in parallel to the lectures and assignments.
