Abstract
Application of formal and quantitative methods fort he economic analysis of actual problems of environmental and natural resource use and policy (issues of optimal land and water allocation, methods of environmental valuation, cost-benefit analysis, optimization and simulation models, treatment of uncertainty and irreversibility).
Objective
Comprehension of the economic principles (theory and methods) to analyze problems of natural resource and environmental management and policy appraisal.
Content
Principles of economic efficiency and optimal resource allocation; Valuation and use of land and water; Multifunctionality; Economics of project appraisal (cost-benefit analysis); Environmental valuation; Models for policy and project appraisal; Irreversibility, risk and uncertainty.
