Abstract
The course promotes awareness and understanding of the diversity of concepts and perceptions of human development with their specific cultural and biographical backgrounds. The course involves the participants into case studies and acquaints them with innovative approaches and tools for exploring and analysing intercultural cooperation.
Objective
The course starts from the assumptions that (1) the cultural contexts of partners in development cooperation have a major impact on the shape of collaboration and (2) collaborators in programmes and projects of development cooperation must recognize these impacts of their cultural backgrounds on the way they interact and attach meaning and value to their work. The course explores intercultural collaboration under above perspectives and enhances the capabilites for a respectful, productive and result-oriented development cooperation on the level of projects and programmes.
Content
Der Kurs behandelt relevante Bezüge zwischen der internationalen Zusammenarbeit mit ihrem Wandel einerseits und lebensgeschichtlichen Prägungen auf der Ebene ihrer Akteure andrerseits in folgenden Arbeitschritten: Relevante Entwicklungsetappen der IZA während des vergangenen halben Jahrhunderts nachvollziehen; Biographien von Menschen entdecken, welche durch diese Entwicklung geprägt worden sind, sie aber auch selber mitgeprägt haben; Methoden für die Erkundung und Darstellung der eigenen sowie von fremden Biographien im zeitgeschichtlichen Zusammenhang kennen lernen; Über prägende Zusammenhänge zwischen (eigener) Biographie, (eigenem) kulturellen Hintergrund und (eigene) Positionierung in der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit reflektieren.
