Abstract
The course refers to strategies, principles and discussions that are formulated and conducted on the international level. Subject areas:• Causes, dynamics and challenges of urbanisation in the era of globalisation• Urban poverty and migration• New approaches to urban development• Urban management• Urban sanitation
Objective
The attraction of the cities remains unchanged. The dynamics of urbanisation, the economic, ecological, social and spatial consequences are considered to be one of the greatest challenges of our times. On the one hand, cities represent a large potential for the economic development of poor countries in an increasingly globalizing world, on the other hand, the negatives effects of urbanisation cannot be overlooked. Questions regarding selected aspects of urbanisation are taken up and possible answers to a number of problem cases are presented and discussed.
