Part: Mecdical Microbiology, Veterinary BacteriologyBasics of classic and molecular bacterial diagnostics. Medical role of bacteria. Normal flora and pathogens. Epidemiology, virulence and molecular pathogenesis. Antibiotics, therapy and resistance mechanisms. Host pathogen interactions. Control of zoonotic infections as prophylactic means.

Part: Molecular Virology: Structure and function of the viral genom; special viruses: HIV, Hepatitis viruses, Influenza etc.; mechanisms of viral replication; virus-host interaction; viruses and cellular signal transduction; oncogenic viruses; anti-viral host defense strategies (siRNA; interferon system); gene therapy Part: Mecdical Microbiology, Veterinary Bacteriology Basics of classic and molecular bacterial diagnostics.
