Last Updated: 2026-02-05 15:09:39
Abstract
Following on from the course providing fundamental knowledge of the potential factors which trigger stress (stressors), theoretical models will be presented from psychology, biology and medicine on the origin of emotions, especially stress, and psychobiological reactions to psychosocial stress.
Objective
Goal of the course is to give the participants a sound scientific understanding of the phenomenon "stress". Following on from the course providing fundamental knowledge of the potential factors which trigger stress (stressors), theoretical models will be presented from psychology, biology and medicine on the origin of emotions, especially stress, and psychobiological reactions to psychosocial stress. Parallel to this, various forms of overcoming stress will be explained, as well as behavioral strategies which optimize the process of coping.
Content
External and/or internal demands which challenge or exceed the adaptability of the individual can be described as stress or psychosocial loads. Often these pressures not only detract from our psychological well-being and performance, but also affect physical processes. From the scientific knowledge available on the origin of stress and the course of psychological and physical reactions to stress, it is possible to develop behavioral techniques or procedures in order to deal with stressors more effectively. Various forms of overcoming stress will be explained, as well as behavioral strategies, whose effectiveness in dealing with stress situations are documented, and which optimize the process of coping.
