Objective

Molecular markers, molecular diagnostics, and pathogen population genetics.

Content

Phytopathology III will focus on two general topics: 1) molecular methods for detection and identification of pathogens, and; 2) pathogen population biology, population genetics and evolution. The course will begin with a brief presentation of genetic marker technologies used in plant pathology. The goals of this course are to describe how tools of molecular biology can be applied to disease diagnosis and pathogen detection and how plant pathogens evolve in agricultural ecosystems.
