Objective

Introduction to practical working on avalanche protection problems.

Content

Protective concepts and avalanche risk. Comparison with other natural hazards. Establishment of priorities for pro-tective measures. Working out avalanche hazard maps. Planning of avalanche defense structures and their effects (deviation, catchment structures, wind drift).
