Wearable Systems II
Last Updated: 2026-02-05 15:10:10
Abstract
Concepts and methods to integrate mobile computers into clothes.Textile sensors: strain, pressure, temperature, ECG, EMG,..Packaging technologies: new substrates (eTextiles), High Densisty Packaging (MCM)Communications: wired/wireless Body Area Network (BAN)Power and Energy in Wearable Systems
Objective
Hardware platforms for wearable mobile systems. Design and implementation of a wearable computer. Smart Textiles
Content
To integrate wearable computers in our clothes, innovative packaging and communication technologies are required. The course deals with Textile Sensors: strain, pressure, temperature, ECK, EMG, ... Packaging: new substrates (eTextiles), High Density Packaging (MCM) Power and energy in mobile systems. In the exercises we design a sensor network to be implemented in clothes: System concept of a sensor button and of a circuit on textiles. Comparison of a textile data bus with wireless BAN. Using a business plan we discuss the commercialisation of our 'Wearable Computer'.
