Abstract

Fundamentals, terminology, and basic methods of systems ecology (eco- and population systems).Principles and approaches are illustrated by case studies (e.g. pesticides and pest dynamics, "limits to growth", climate change and forests).Systems analysis, modeling, identification, steady-state and stability analysis, model evaluation, simulation, validation and interpretation of models.

Objective

Main goal: Introduction to modeling and simulation of complex environmental, agricultural, and forest systems. Students learn to formulate, structure, and deal with complex environmental problems from agronomy, forestry, and biology. They gain skills in the use of dynamic systems and mathematical models in aforementioned disciplines.

Content
