Objective

Comprehension of parasitism. Insights into the biology of parasites and into mechanisms of host/parasite interactions. Knowledge of important parasitoses of humans and animals and of their epidemiology, diagnosis and their prevention and therapy.

Content

Nature of parasitism. Systematics and medical/veterinary significance of parasites; pecularities of parasitic habitats; special structural features of parasites; nutrients and metabolism; structure and function of organelles; molecular genetics and cell biology; invasion of host cells; virulence and pathogenicity mechanisms; immune response against parasites and mechanisms of immune evasion; epidemiology and ecology; diagnosis, prevention and treatment.
