Abstract

Part 1: This course focuses on basic aspects of sensory physiology, from signal transduction until perception.Part 2: Understanding, discussing and criticizing neuro- and sensory-physiological literature.

Objective

Part 1: To understand the basic concepts underlying perception in the five senses. Part 2: Discussion of selected topics in neuro- and sensory physiology based on book chapters and original papers.

Content

Part 1: Main emphasis on vision and audition, followed by taste , smell and somatosensory senses Part 2: Discussion of selected topics in neuro- and sensory physiology based on book chapters and original papers. Tutorial. Specifically for ETH students in the curriculum "Biology".
