Abstract

The practical course complements the lecture on Pharmacology and Toxicology and gives insight into experimental research in Pharmacology. It comprises practical work in the laboratory, demonstrations, and exercices in small groups. It takes place as a module at the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology (University of Zurich, Irchel campus).

Objective

Understanding the experimental basis of knowledge in pharmacology and toxicology.

Content

Experiments and demonstrations provide insight into the mechanisms of drug action in the fields of neuro- and psychopharmacology, behavioral pharmacology, pharmacogenetics, sleep and circadian rhythms, toxicology and functional imaging. The topics span the entire range from molecular to system's pharmacology.
