Abstract

Carrying out a microscopic analysis of plant material, microchemical analyses relevant to secondary metabolites for the identification of plant material, recognition and documentation of microscopic features, as well as understanding of relevant literature on the topic of plant identification. Knowledge about microscopic characteristics of medicinal, toxic and psychoactive plant material.

Capability of carrying out a microscopic analysis of plant material, recognition and documentation of microscopic features, as well as understanding of relevant literature on the topic of plant identification. Knowledge about microscopic characteristics of medicinal, toxic and psychoactive plant material. Basic knowledge about microchemical analyses relevant to secondary metabolites for the identification of plant material.

Content

Elaboration of basics for microscopic analysis of medicinal plant material listed in PhEur and Helv, as well as sound introduction to quality control with respect to purity and adulteration. Chemical detection of secondary metabolites and accomplishment of reactions.
